Industrial Design – we love it. Our offices were designed to include industrial materials such as raw metals & wood. When discussing new furniture ideas we really wanted to express our love into one of our collections. Below is what inspired us to combined Industrial style into one of our furniture designs.
When looking at materials we knew we needed a darker fabric and chose a charcoal sunbrella fabric to complement the set. Sunbrella is well known in the furniture trade for its high quality and durability. The main attraction for this fabric is the stain resistant qualities and cleaning capabilities.
Raw Materials
After deciding to expand our fabric sofa sets collection meant that we knew rattan would not be a feature of this set. Predominantly fabric, we needed a different material for the frame to offset the cushions.
Although initially apprehensive we felt strongly that a black metal frame sofa would make a bold statement. The frame is made from strong yet lightweight aluminium and looks striking in a black. The tempered legs add a unique design feature making the fabric sofa less uniform and more industrial design.
The Missing Piece
After our initial design we realised we were missing an element. Most of our sofa sets have tables with a glass top but it didn’t seem in keeping with this style. After much discussion we decided that teak wood would be a better match with the grey fabric. The teak topped tables is what brings this large outdoor grey fabric sofa set together.
This sunbrella outdoor sofa set isn’t just large, it’s super large. Although modular, at its largest configuration this set measures 4.40m x 3.6m, so it’s definitely not for the faint hearted.
