PE Resin rattan is very versatile as it can be woven into almost any shape for individual, handcrafted pieces.


There are numerous benefits for choosing rattan garden furniture over other traditional types. Unfortunately rattan furniture being sold in the UK is flooded with cheap PVC styled rattan which undermines many of the benefits that PE Resin Rattan holds. You can be sure that Alexander Francis furniture have been designed and crafted to the highest standard, using only the finest quality materials which are constructed by skilled, experienced craftsmen to create an exceptional standard of furniture that is designed and built to last. Our Materials:

 Rattan – what type of material is it?

Rattan ranges are long lasting man made furniture, built to withstand all weather conditions and are guaranteed to give you many years of enjoyment. Unlike rattan furniture, which can rot in wet weather, all of our furniture is made from Poly Resin Rattan, a woven synthetic material which will repel water, mould, and is also UV resistant. The resin is extremely flexible, strong and durable, non toxic and recyclable.

 How do you care for rattan?

The benefit of PE Resin Rattan is that it is virtually maintenance free. The following tips can be used when your furniture has not been used over the winter or for long periods of time:

- Use a vacuum cleaner to remove any loose dirt and dust

- Dampen a clean cloth or sponge with warm water and mild detergent and wipe over all of the rattan furniture

- Once clean you can use a garden hose to rinse the furniture down. Alternatively, simply use clear water and a fresh cloth or sponge to remove the soap.

- Leave the furniture to dry, preferably outside in the sun.



 Is rattan weather-resistant and durable?

Poly Resin Rattan is a durable, synthetic, all-weather material designed to look like natural rattan but be more hard-wearing. Unlike natural rattan it will not get brittle or crack and will last much longer. It is frost, water and UV resistant, so you can leave it out in all weathers, although the cushions will need storing undercover. It requires no maintenance and is simple to keep clean with a damp cloth.

 Can rattan furniture be easily moved around?

Our garden furniture is hand-woven over metal frames, making it surprisingly lightweight and easy to move around the garden. It also makes great indoor furniture, adding style and panache to any conservatory or garden room. This versatility gives you great indoor furniture which you can carry outside when the weather permits.

 What is the frame of the furniture made of?

The frame is constructed from high quality powder coated aluminium, which is rust proof.

 What fabric is used on the furniture?

Our cushion covers and scatter cushions are made from a high quality, splash proof material which is UV, moisture and stain resistant. We recommend you store your cushions in a dry place during wet and winter periods.

Our cushions and covers are guaranteed for 2 years with a valid proof of purchase against any manufacturing or material defects. This guarantee does not cover damages that arise from:

- Any products used in a business or commercial environment unless otherwise agreed beforehand.

- Damage resulting from improper assembly or set up, misuse, negligence (such as not properly storing cushions during wet weather) or normal wear and tear.

 What material are the feet made from?

All of our furniture feet are made from stainless steel which is perfect for outdoor use and will avoid any corrosion.

Our Furniture:

 Can I leave my furniture outside?

Yes, all our Poly Rattan ranges are long lasting man made furniture, built to withstand all weather conditions and are guaranteed to give you many years of enjoyment. Unlike Rattan furniture, which can rot in wet weather, Poly Rattan is a woven synthetic material, which will repel water, mould, and is also UV resistant. The resin is extremely flexible, strong and durable, non toxic and recyclable. Please be aware that the cushions are not completely weather proof and will need to be stored somewhere dry during wet weather to avoid damage.

 What if my furniture becomes marked and/or scratched in any way?

Don't panic! You can remove most marks and scratches by simply using a hair dryer on the affected area to heat the rattan and then use a strong flat material like card to gently smooth the scratch out and then leave to cool. 

 Can I divide furniture sets?

All our ranges are currently sold as sets; we will however try to accommodate you where possible.

 Can I purchase any covers to protect the furniture through winter?

We have a limited selection of winter covers available for some of our sets. If they are not listed on our website then we don't currently sell them.

 Are cushions included with the furniture?

All our sofa sets, loungers, day beds and chairs come with seat and back cushions as shown. Please note the coloured scatter cushions displayed with the furniture are not provided.

 Can I order bespoke furniture for my home or business?

Yes of course, Alexander Francis can provide custom made and built to order furniture for your own special bespoke design.

 Does the furniture come with a guarantee?

Yes, all of our furniture comes with a 5 year guarantee - please read our guarantee terms and conditions.

Ordering Our Furniture:

 What if my furniture is damaged/faulty?

If something is wrong with an order you placed with Alexander Francis, we will do everything we can to help. If there item is damaged upon delivery then we must be notified with 48 hours of delivery.


We will pay the return shipping cost if the return is a result of our error. Please note that we are unable to exchange items, however, if you received a damaged, defective, or incorrect item, we will arrange the return and replacement of the order.

 What if I want to return my furniture?

We realise as an internet company that it is difficult to make a decision about your furniture. Our team are here to make sure that you know you are making the best choice and our furniture is made to our very highest standards. However if the furniture you receive is not to your satisfaction and not what you were expecting, then you would be able to return the goods for a refund (excluding delivery costs). We can organise the pick-up of the furniture (at cost price) and the items must be returned in their original packaging and boxes. Read more of our returns policy here.

Please report any initial faults within 48 hours of delivery. If it is later than 48 hours then our quality control team may need to investigate the cause of the damage to determine if it happened prior to delivery.

 How do I place an order?

 How long does delivery take?

We have several delivery methods available: 


  • Economy - Delivered 7 - 10 working days
  • Express - Delivered 1 - 2 working days


Please note that we require a confirmed delivery address and contact phone number before we can dispatch goods. One of our team will then call or email as soon as you have ordered to confirm these particulars. You will be kept updated of the progress of your order.

 How can I pay for my order?

Credit card/Debit Card - We accept all major types of credit and debit cards (except for American Express) including Mastercard, Visa, Maestro/Solo, Visa Electron and Visa Delta.

Invoice/Cheque - If you are based in the UK and wish to place an order and pay by cheque please call us on the number at the top of this page and we will provide you with details. Please make sure you include all contact names and numbers, as well as delivery addresses in full when sending a cheque.

Bank Transfer - Please note if you are ordering from outside Europe we only accept a bank transfer as payment.

 Do you deliver to Europe?

Yes, we can ship to all European countries and you will find us very competitive. Please contact us for a quote to the country you would like delivery. We aim to process and dispatch orders placed within 2-3 days. Please note, the furniture sets are dispatched on large pallets and delivered to 'Kerb Side', so please ensure you are able to move the items to location from there.

 What if I pay for an item but it is out of stock?

In order to allocate your furniture to you full payment will be taken. This is to ensure that the items you have ordered are pre-allocated to you. We often have high demand for some of the pieces and cannot hold pieces without payment. If you pay for an item that is out of stock we will contact you to advise when it will be back in stock, you can either wait until it's available or we will issue a full refund. Please note that refunds can take 3 - 5 working days to appear in your account.

 What should I expect with delivery?

We offer three flexible delivery options to make delivery as convenient for you as possible. These options are available for delivery Monday to Friday to the UK mainland only (excluding Highlands and Islands).

We will contact you to book a delivery date that's convenient for you, please make sure you or someone on your behalf is there to accept delivery on that date or a redelivery charge of £75 will be applicable.
