Pantone Colour of the Year 2014

Pantone Colour of the Year 2014

Pantone has released its colour of the year for 2014 as ‘Radiant Orchid’ which Pantone describes as “an invitation to innovation, Radiant Orchid encourages expanded creativity and originality, which is increasingly valued in today’s society.”

Pantone reveals how this colour can be used for a variety of purposes including fashion, beauty and interiors. Radiant Orchid is complementary to all skin tones “producing a healthy glow” and “enlivens the skin”.

For interior use Radiant Orchid can liven up any interior with “accent pieces and accessories. As adaptable as it is beautiful, Radiant Orchid compliments olive and deeper hunter greens, and offers a gorgeous combination when paired with turquoise, teal and even light yellows.”

We incorporated a Radiant Orchid colour scheme when we photographed our Tuscany brown rattan day bed. Just a couple of colour scatter cushions and some flowers or a centre piece for the coffee table will liven up the furniture with just a dab of colour. The best thing about making small changes like this is that it can be relatively inexpensive and can be changed at any time to suit your mood or the occasion.
