I am very excited to report that soon I will have my very own garden. I am currently in the process of buying my very first house. As first time buyers who were previously renting a flat, we are overjoyed to at last have a garden. As it’s a new build, our modern and contemporary furniture is perfect to match the architecture.

We have been dreaming of having breakfast on the patio while my husband reads a newspaper and I catch up on the Alexander Francis Instagram feed. So while my husband deals with the solicitors, I have been doing a lot of window shopping and getting some inspiration from our customers. Designing my home in my head.

I love how Lou from Townhouse for Two on Instagram has paired her new-build garden with our modern Calabria 4 piece sofa. As my patio is relatively small like Lou’s, this would be a perfect size.

Ideally, I am looking for a natural-hued set to compliment the brown fencing in the garden though. The Tosca Brown, though a little larger than the Calabria, is the perfect shade. It will also give us a bit more room for entertaining.

The design process…

When contemplating a large purchase such as furniture. I always try to visualise what it will look like in my home by creating mood boards with the accessories I would like to style the set with. I’ve selected some scatter cushions for the set from Zara Home.

I selected blues as I know that in the garden I’d like to plant some blue hydrangea as they are my favourite flower. It’s important to me for the whole design concept of the garden to tie together. I would really recommend thinking about the big picture of the scene when planning what furniture to go for. Though I do like grey furniture, I know that for the space, the brown is going to be more complementary and pair well with the blue shades that I hope to grow. Other things to contemplate are the colour of your patio and the exterior walls of your house as furniture can easily blend or clash with these too.

I am really excited to see these designs come to life in my new home and to bring you along on the journey as my garden dream finally becomes a reality. I’d love to hear about your gardens and see your designs so please do get in touch!
